Mask.

Another work on the theme of female isolation. This work is more emblematic and simplistic but asks more question than it answers.

Falling Man.

'Falling Man' was directly inspired by the well published image from the Twin Tower invasion. Its' incredible sense of passive acceptance disturbed me greatly. It is a large work (2 metres high).

Long Shadow.

'Long Shadow' is of a similar emphasis to 'Over the Shoulder' in which a menacing shadow is used to instill a sense of mystery to the work.

female isolation

'Spot light' is another use of the female form as a symbol of isolation. In this work I also use the basic architectural 'room' environment as a symbol of entrapment.

female form. acrylic.

'Over the shoulder' is the first of two acrylic works using a 3D computer generated model as a starting point. This work includes a sense of 'menace' which features frequently in my work.

'Falling woman' is the second of a pair of acrylic works in a semi realistic genre. I worked the model with the aid of a 3D generated computer image also in this work. I have subsequently abandoned this methodology.

'Red Hat' is another work which deals with the nature of solitude. The use of the female form is a significant factor in the investigation of isolation.

Metaphysical Roots.

The work 'Interior State' was completed just before 'Seated Woman' and marks the end of my metaphysical works in which geometry plays a large role in the depiction of the human form. Like 'seated woman' the human form is trapped within a basic architectural space.

TOWARDS REALISM

This painting 'Seated Woman' marks the first transition fom 'Metaphysical' to semi realistic work. This painting was developed for a postage stamp used in a series'Postcards from Italy'. The image of the female which is distressed and isolated was my interpretation of the political and economic state of the country.
